Eat right for your type

Question
Hi Lea,

I've recently read this book by Dr. Peter D'Adamo and he believes that blood type O people should eat a low carb/high protein diet all the time (ie: not just to lose weight).  Do you have any thoughts on that?  I understood that a low carb diet was not recommended for long-term use because it could harm your kidneys.

Answer
Hi Brenda,
I am not a doctor but I can give you my personal opinion that carbohydrates are what give us energy all day long.  The best carbohydrates are complex: fruit, vegetable, whole grains (contain nutrients and fiber).  The simple carbs are sugars, white bread, etc.  I would agree that low-carb is not the best way to go to sustain long and healthy life.  I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Lea
