CLAMS

Question
QUESTION: In Aajonus book , he speaks about having ill clients practice urine therapy to help the healing process. What is your take on this.??? Do you think it is an effective tool to encourage the body to heal???
ANSWER: Aajonus has promoted a number of dodgy theories and this, I have to admit, is one of the worst. I definitely do not recommend consuming one's own  faeces or urine. The whole point of  urine and faeces is to get rid of toxins and waste from the body, and to reabsorb them once more is just a bad idea.

That said, I do not believe that raw food on its own is enough for great health. I would definitely recommend the frequent use of "high-meat" as the extra bacteria really help the digestion, among other effects.

QUESTION: IS IT OK TO HAVE RAW CLAMS?  DO YOU EAT THEM?

Answer
I've eaten raw clams in the past, though only rarely. I found them difficult(and dangerous!) to open with my usual oyster-knife etc., so had to use a hammer to break open the shells. They're fine in taste and  high in  nutrients like all shellfish, but I personally prefer raw shellfish like mussels, oysters, prawns and scallops. As for the modern hysteria re raw shellfish, it's prety much bunk.At least,
the only times I've had serious food-poisoning with shellfish was when I ate cooked shellfish in restaurants in pre-raw diet days. Aged raw food is fine but aged cooked food can be deadly.
