he Ketogenic Diet is a high-fat, low-protein and low-carbohydrate diet. It is a stringent, mathematically calculated eating plan that, when followed conscientiously, produces a by-product called ketones. The diet has been in existence since the 1920s, when it has been considered a breakthrough in treatment of intractable childhood epilepsy but was usurped by synthetic medications in the 1950s.
