Fasting and weight loss

Question
how much weight do you think I could lose on a ten day fast? I am 5'5 and 150 pounds.

Answer
Dear Nicole,

During fasting, there can be a weight loss of up to 2 pounds a day, and if you exercise during your first day or two, you can lose even more. However, this would be a water loss. How much body fat one can lose during a complete 10-day water fast, depends on one's activity and stress levels and even on the weather. Swimming, especially in cold water, will definitely speed up the fat loss and so will drinking icy cold water.

Be very careful during your 'exit' days! If you need specifics, please take a look at my article at:

Good luck,
