Low sodium

Question
I have had vertigo for 8 years and was told a low salt diet may help.

How can I avoiud salt?  I never add it to my meals.

Answer
Thanks for the question.  Most of the sodium in peoples diets comes from sources other than the salt shaker.  Most canned soups for instance have a full days worth of salt for a healthy person.  You need to determine what your daily sodium intake should be and start reading lables.  All the mg. of sodium up in the foods you eat for a couple weeks and you will get a good idea where the salt in your diet is coming from.

Be sure to consult with a physician about your personal medical needs.  There are a few inner ear ailments with cause vertigo that can be alleviated with a low salt diet.  You will need to consult with a doctor for more information.
