Question
Hi, if people who do  the low carb diet and have their body burn fat instead of carbs decide once a week to go off their diet and treat themselves to all the carbs they want, is it bad for the body to switch back and forth, from burning fat to burning carbs?

Answer
Yes - since the goal is to reach and maintain a particular biochemical state.  Disrupting that by huge doses of carbs every week is not a good idea.

If by "low carb" you mean Atkins/ketosis, many question the wisdom of such a diet for more than a week or two.  I think the "low glycemic diet" approach is much more realistic and sustainable.
