CHF and Low Sodium diet

Question
We need advice on how to handle the low sodium food requirements.  Ideas on where to buy low sodium foods, etc.  Any web-sites?  Requests for catalogs for non online ways to get food ... we have tried the health food stores in Houston with some success ... mom is 78 years old and cannot cook as much as she used to ...

Answer
Thanks for the question.  Helping older people change their diet is one of the most difficult things to do.  Start by looking at what she eats now.  Maybe some things in her diet can be modified by changing a couple of ingredients.  If she likes pasta with red sauce for instance you can use a no salt added sauce.  Most pasta's do not have much sodium in them.  For resources on-line try www.megaheart.com, www.nosalt.com, www.lowsodiumcooking.com and www.healthyheartmarket.com.  The last site is my store which is the largest supplier of low sodium foods on-line.

Thanks, and good luck,

Pete
