Low Carb Snacks

Low carb snacks are a great way to get you through the day. Sometimes, you just have one of those long and stressful days where you need a little energy boost. Eating a bag of chips or popcorn will only spike your blood level and give you a quick high and an ugly low. Same goes for candy bars. You want to find a snack that will sustain you until your next healthy meal.

Nuts make wonderful low carb snacks. I don't mean call up your crazy aunt. I mean cashews, almonds, and macadamia nuts. You must remember, however, that there are a lot of calories in nuts because of fat. Nuts contain monosaturated fat, the good fat, not like butter. Since the calories can add up quite quickly, you will want to pair a handful of nuts with a piece of fruit or a good carb.

Other great low carb snacks are yogurt, cottage cheese, and hard-boiled eggs. All of these are forms of protein. For your snack to be most effective, you want to have protein involved. If you don't, it's kind of like playing a football game without a quarterback. It will only get you so far before you get crushed. Pairing protein with a good carb, like a piece of fruit, is a perfect low carb snack.

Low Carb Snacks for Carb Cravings

What do you do when your tummy is lightly growling at you, lunch isn't for two hours, and you can't stop thinking about BBQ potato chips? The best option is to choose something healthy instead and know that the craving will pass. However, if you've been good with your carbs lately, you might want to invest in some of the many low carb snack options, snacks that usually have high carbs, but are purposely made with lower carbs to fit with low carb diets. Make sure you don't have more than the recommended portion. Pair it with a bit of protein as well.
