For many of us, snacks are a daily ritual. We have become convinced by the mainstream diet industry (whose primary role is to help the food industry with sales) that we cannot possibly wait for our next meal time to come before we eat again, we NEED to snack.

If you're a snacker there's nothing wrong with that, as long as you snack on the right things.

Some suggestions: Fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds and if you're tight on time, protein powders.

A good quality protein shake is a must-have item in everyone's pantry because it takes away your excuse for eating those biscuits or a chocolate bar in the afternoon when the 3pm hunger pangs hit. The excuse is usually around not having time to get something together.

Put powder and water in shaker, mix, drink. Boom. 30 seconds. And for your investment of time you'll get a 20g (or so) protein hit with almost no 'junk' calories. And you'll feel full for MUCH longer than you do when you eat a muffin.

What type of protein should you buy?

This depends on your nutritional outlook. If you're OK with animal products (specifically dairy) get a whey protein powder, if not get a vegan protein drink, pea protein is good. They are largely the same, apart from what they are made from.
