Choose a diet that tackles your bad habits

Incorporate your diet into your lifestyle

Being on a diet is about more than cutting down on food – it's about following a healthy weight loss eating plan and learning to stick to it.

To do this, you need to make sure you choose one that's going to work for you.

One that doesn't conjure up feelings of frustration, lead to an obsession with food – or the scale – or heighten food cravings.

Think progress, not perfection, suggests weight management consultant, Dawn Jackson Blatner, MS and RD, “You don't have to chuck out all of your old ways and recipes – incorporate the new plan into your lifestyle slowly and realistically.”

What are your bad habits?

Think about your eating habits and what you'd like to change. Maybe you often find yourself finishing off your child or partner's food, drinking too many glasses of wine, or munching mindlessly in front of the TV.

Whatever it is, make a note of these habits and look for diets that will help combat them.
