Good Diet..?

Question
Hi!
First of all i'd just like to adress my weight, height, etc..
I'm a 15 yr old female, I weigh 125-130 (my weight varies from day to day, not sure why though) and i'm currently 5'4.
I have just recently began dieting.
I was suffering from an eating disorder (apparently) about a year ago and have been gaining all of it back (biggest regret of my life) and I just want to lose all of it again in time for august but in a more healthy way that doesnt make me feel like dying.
So now i eat around 900-1000 calories a day, and somewhere between 5-10 g of fat. I run on a treadmill 20 minutes, do 40 sit-ups, and 60 leg crunches a day and sometimes yoga when im in a bad mood. I'm a competitive gymnast as well.
My question is, is this enough to make me lose weight?
My mom and the rest of my family think i'm going anorexic again but I dont feel ill like i used to, and im not hungry. I eat a banana for breakfast, a bagel for lunch (with cream cheese), grapes throughout the day (a lot of them, too), soup for diner with a granola bar as a snack, and I drink only water and herbal weightloss tea at night.
I feel great and stopped getting headaches.
Is this an okay diet and will it work?
Thankyou for your time!
Halla

Answer
Dear Halla,

I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree on your family with this one.... why don't you visit with a qualified dietitian in person... That way you will have all your questions answered and your family will feel relieved you are speaking with a professional about your diet!

I cannot advocate eating as low a calorie diet as you are on, nor losing a significant amount of weight by august.  It sounds like you still have some issues that could benefit from treatment.
Remember, as someone who has suffered from an eating disorder your life will be spent in recovery and you'll always have to keep those symptoms in check in order to lead a happy and healthy life.

I wish you good health!

Laurie
