Diets shifting or rotating calories, carbs, or what?

Question
QUESTION: Would you recommend this diet? http://SampleDiets.CalorieShiftingDiet.info
Thank you very much :)

ANSWER: Hello Jolin,

The idea of ever-changing diets does make sense to me because it looks pretty adequate Mother Nature wise: feasts come after fasts, etc. It prevent the body from being too comfortable or too anxious. It also works against metabolic slowdown and switching to the starvation mode during the calorie restriction phase. If one watches carbohydrates rather than calories, it's the same thing, this is how carb rotation plans work.

The Calorie Shifting Diet seems to be a low-fat, high protein diet (even their vegetarian version) and from their sample menu, I failed to understand why they call it CALORIE shifting.

I would feel better about this diet if they explained how their all-you-can-eat approach result in decreased calorie intake - what is it, low energy density of allowed foods or high satiety index of them, or low glycemic index, or what?

PS. I doubt that their Rule #5 (Exercise is not required on this diet) is OK for any long term weight loss program, but for 11 days, you can go without exercise.

QUESTION: Thank you for your reply!
Just wondering,
I am not vegetarian but the non-vegetarian shifting calories diet appears unhealthy (eg. bacon) and it seems like a lot more than I usually eat. Should I stick to the vegetarian diet?

Answer
Maybe - though it can be OK to have bacon due to its high Fat Burning Index. It'd be bad to have bacon and nothing much more for long periods of time, but for a couple of weeks it cant do any harm, especially if you exercise. On the other hand, if it doesn't you favorite - go vegetarian, or do it 50-50. Experiment!
