Weight loss for X-Powerlifter/Bodybuilder @ 40 Yrs old

Question
Hello,
I just turned 40 in August, i'm a 5' 10'' White male and im 246 lbs. I used to own a gym in California and i spent most of my life training people and giving excercise and weight loss advice. Due to a shoulder injury, i got out of the gym for about 2 years and now im back in the gym and lifting again. I know that i have different limits at 40 than i did at 20 or 30 so im lifting alot lighter. I have noticed that i simply can not get my body fat down like i used to and im looking for some dieting advice. I'm lifting 4 times a week and although im seeing great results in muscle gain and strength, im not seeing the waist line drop the way i'd like. I used to start and finish the day with meals that were only protein and eat what i wanted during the middle of the day, that doesnt appear to work at this juncture in my life. My job affords me little time to eat more than twice a day which may account for a slower metabolism, i've thought of supplementing my diet with Nutrition bars that are high in protein to keep my metabolism up but im not sure if thats the best thing at my current age. I do not believe in fad diets and i hope that my writing has shown that im an intellegent person that knows when to give advice and when to seek it. My general measurements are as follows: CHEST 54.5", WAIST 38.5", UPPER ARM 19", HIPS 41.5", UPPER THIGH 27.5" and CALVES 18". I've tried to give as much info as possible so that you have an accurate profile of me. The bottom line is that i'd really like to see those abs again.

Thanks for your time and your assistance in this matter,
Mike T.

Answer
Hi Mike,

Pack some dried fruit and raw nuts. Eat every 3-4 hours. Lots of plain water, no sodas.

Try doing cardio 4-6 times a week, and...AND....RESISTANCE TRAINING ONCE A WEEK. one 30 minute round of non-stop, wearing out each of 6 muscle groups does a lot for muscles and avoids a lot of damage to joints, tendons, etc.

Please see http://www.premiumfuel.com for info on real food vs. flavored packing material, metabolism etc.

Aging sucks, doesn't it?

Take care.
Susan
