Omega 3 butter substitute spreads

Question
Is there a more natural product used for spreading in making food more rich besides butter or margerine? Perhaps vegetable based?

Answer
Dear James,

I like Omega 3 spread from St Hubert made of olive oil emulsified with vegetable gelatin. I don't know how American brands (e.g., Smart Balance or Melrose) taste but the ingredient and technology looks OK. See if there are other types but watch for the no-no words like 'hydrogenated' or omega 6. The USA foods contain too much of omega 6 and it can nullify all the health effects of omega 3. Unsweetened almond butter is also good and good for you.
