What do you drink when youre thirsty?

Question
Dear RPG,

you don't drink veg juice and you've eliminated dairy from your diet. And from previous replies I understand you don't eat much fruit and don't fancy honey either too much.

I've never had any obvious problems with drinking milk, but I have always had blurry vision, so I wanna try if my eyesight improves when I stop eating dairy completely.

I've been on this diet more than 2 years now and usually drink 2 pints of milk daily, there have been couple of months when I completely didn't drink milk, but then I ate butter instead. I don't drink veg juice, eat some fruit (10%) and I would also like to stop eating honey for various reasons.

The problem: every time I stop drinking milk I get thirsty, my mouth is dry etc. Eating honey usually helps then. Or fruit with avocado. Animal fats (suet, and belly fat) don't really make that much difference though, but I usually don't eat more than 1/2 lbs/per day either; and suet usually dries out and becomes sawdust very quickly anyway. And eggs tend to make me even more thirsty.

So my questions to you: What do you do when you're thirsty? How much animal fat do you consume daily? Do you drink water?

Thanks for all your posts here, really helpful!

Kind regards,
Tony

Answer
Interesting. Back when I consumed raw dairy, I had the exact opposite problem, in that I got dry skin and constant thirst, among other things from raw-dairy consumption. I was addicted to dairy at the time, and drank lots of raw milk to counteract these effects, according to standard AV guidelines, but it just made the thirst even worse. Drinking water and eating raw offal, instead, helped to sort things out, over time. Not sure how I can advise you on this.

In my own case, I drink  water when I'm thirsty, though the small amount of fruit I eat(c.10% of diet), and the raw offal already has a lot of water in it, anyway. I virtually  never drink tap-water(except sometimes when on holiday) as all water in London has been through 8 bladders, by the time it's reached me. Instead, I drink high-alkaline mineral water, which makes quite a difference in terms of energy-levels etc. by comparison to tap-water - I prefer a PH value of at least 7.8, as it's a lot tastier than the other blander,  PH-neutral bottles, and usually I buy 5-litre mineral-water bottles as they're much cheaper (per litre). The amount I drink varies greatly - if I'm on a fast-day, I'll drink from 1 to 1.5 litres of mineral water, occasionally 2 litres on very hot days. On non-fasting days,  I need to  drink anywhere from nothing at all  to as much as a litre -the high water-content/fat-content of the raw offal/fruit I eat usually means I don't have to drink as much water, then.

Re animal fats:- I try reasonably  hard to eat some fat each day, if possible(except fast-days, of course). Sometimes, I'll just eat a whole, raw ox-tongue as my one meal,on one day,(tongue  is c.50% fat), or if I eat something that's much lower in fat, by comparison(eg:- oysters/ox-kidneys/wild hare etc.), I'll eat anywhere from 1 to as much as 4 heaped  tablespoonfuls of marrow with it(or same amount of suet or brains, though I far prefer marrow). Raw marrow comes in two kinds - one(from the upper leg-bones of animals, according to Vilhjalmur Stefansson) is white and relatively dry, and takes some time getting used to(though I now   rather like the taste, these days) - the other kind(from the lower legs of animals) is reddish and creamy in texture and is absolutely delicious, tasting sort of like a raw butter.

I don't generally like the taste of fat on muscle-meat, but I'm slowly getting more used to eating pork-belly fat, and the like,  these days.
