Answer
Dear Sujatha,

I must emphasise I am NOT a doctor. But I have had a kidneystone last June. All I can advise you is to make sure that you have the right diagnosis: are you talking about kidneystones or bladderstones? I presume you have been to a hospital, and I would be shocked if they did not give you some dietary advice. If you haven't seen a doctor yet, then please do, for as with all diets you first need to determine the underlying causes (there are many possibilities, varying from gout or a glandular/metabolic problem to organ tissue diseases or chronic infections). Diet and lifestyle may also be contributing to a general weakening of the organs causing the stones.
In any case, keep drinking (always) plenty of water (at lesat 2 litres a day) so that you continuously flush all waste products out (mineral deposits which build the stones: e.g. oxalic acids found in leafy vegetables and rhubarb specifically). Other fluids will not do, and you might need to make sure the mineral content is not too high (if you have a choice of good bottled water), because you generally do not want to imbalance your blood and tax the kidneys too much. Proteins are usually kept to a minimum (including milk) and (Organic, not processed) fruitjuices (cranberry/apple) and vegetable juices (beet) can be beneficial for bladder and kidney (but not curative). Definitely no coffee (rich in oxalic acid).
On a more holistic note, with regard to life-style and attitude changes: our organs reflect higher organising principles. And the kidneys have everything to do with maintaining a balanced environment and excreting excess (fluid & mineral). Any disorders may correlate to difficulties with releasing the average human incompetencies and regulating our temperaments.Continued states of anxiety and poor kidneys & urinary tract problems are also often correlated.
I do hope your condition improves once you have been professionally advised on which dietary guidelines to follow; in my experience the pain these little bits of mineral can cause is horrendous, and I sympathise deeply.
All the best,
Love
Evelyn.
