Well, going for a low-carb, high-fat, moderate protein diet is the best way to lose fat, as carbs stimulate the addition of extra fat layers via insulin -plus (healthy non-trans-) fats have more energy per gram in them so you last longer on them, and have less of an appetite, compared to useless carbs. However, most people find it very difficult to sustain a low-carb diet in the long-term  due to excess cooked animal food consumption  leading to overacidity in the body, so many switch to raw or semi-raw variations thereof, eventually.

If you're interested in a raw, palaeolithic diet, you should first  read up on cooked Palaeo diet authors like Loren Cordain, Weston-Price's book "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration", and Aajonus' two rawpalaeo diet books "We Want To Live", and the rather more useful sequel, "The Recipe for Living without Disease". Get the latter two books  from this website as it otherwise takes ages via www.amazon.com.

(I should mention that  there are a number of "problem" foods on RPD diets that many people do not take well to(usually either non-raw and/or non-Palaeo), and are (IMHO) to be avoided. These include raw dairy, fermented/unfermented grains, veggie juice and  excessive amounts of veg or fruit -a few people don't take well to low-quality raw eggs as the birds are fed with unnatural grain-products).

When going for meat, it's essential to always go for 100% grass-fed meat, preferably organic. Grain-fed meat contains toxins and is rather low in healthy nutrients, especially omega-3 fatty acids. It's also a good idea to go for raw organ-meats as they are cheaper  and higher in nutrients than muscle-meats.

If you want to see what a rawpalaeo diet looks and tastes  like go to a Japanese Sashimi restaurant or a Sushi bar which serves sashimi platters. Don't eat the salmon as it's usually farmed and rather tasteless, but try out some of the other raw fish and avoid  the accompnaying green wahsabi sauce, which is full of chemicals. You can also try out steak tartare which is offered in many French/Hungarian or Russian restaurants, as well as slightly-warmed raw-meat Kitfo meatballs(from Ethiopian restaurants) or beef carpaccio etc.

If you're interested in pursuing the rawpalaeo diet, I'd suggest singing onto Yahoo as a member, and searching under "raw paleolithic diet" or " Aajonus Vonderplanitz" or " Primal Diet", and you'll find 4 or 5 groups dedicated to discussing raw, palaeolithic diet issues - their archives are very useful indeed for RPD newbies.

Hope This Helps,
Geoff
