Inheritance

Question
Can obesity be inherited?  Is it located in the genes?  Can nothing be done about it if you are going to inherit it anyway?

Answer
You can certainly inherit a tendency to gain weight or predisposition to hold weight in a certain area, but if you aren't eating "twinkies", you won't become obese!

It is more about lifestyle than genetics, despite what differing opinions say!

I have seen families w/ generations of obesity have thin family members and it is usually that the individual made the decision to live healthier than their family!

Just giving up and accepting "fate" is certainly one approach, but not the healthier one!
