Metabolism and body composition after calorie restriction

Question
Okay, so I'm a 16 year old teen girl and five feet and four inches tall. I weigh 108-110. I used to weigh around 130 and lost it the weight eating about 1000 calories a day. i have had it off for about half a year but havent started eating normal again. I'm wondering if I have slowed down my metabolism and if I will gain weight if I increase my calories. Also, about how many should I be eating? I'm pretty active and a varsity cheerleader. Thank you!

Answer
Dear Lindsey,

I would be more concerned about your body composition and whether you have sufficient muscle mass. There's no consensus about slowing down metabolism after calorie restriction. This is a very individual thing. However, being physically active, do you feel yourself strong, do you have enough energy, are you hungry most of the time?

If you go to http://bantadiet.com and browse the 7 daily plans, you'll find their body fat calculator download link (it's free) - check it out. You may ask me question either from that site or here at allexperts when you know your numbers, I'll be of more help.
