Cases for weakness and fatigue and how to fight them

Question
I'm 23. A runner. In great health.

My mother was diagnosed with anemia a few years ago. So it's in our family history. I recently began to feel extremely fatigued because of a change in eating habits about 2 months ago. I would come home from work and have no energy left to do anything but nap for an hour and a half- only to go back to bed in two hours anyway. In addition to the naps i'd been taking on lunch and the 8-9 hours I am getting at night (interrupted sleep however).

My mom suggested I try iron tablets. I might have some mild iron deficiency- in any case I bought some and tried one yesterday. Within 2 hours I'd perked right up. I didn't feel the brain fog I'd been having for a while. I didn't really need the nap on lunch or later in the day and I even got a full night of restful, and deep sleep. No tossing or moving or waking up.

So anyway, what do you think? The iron tablets aren't my full (100%) rda so I'm not at risk for poisoning. Do you think maybe I was working on a mild iron deficiency?

(the funny thing is nobody said anything at MEPS to me about my blood or iron.)

Answer
Jessica,

Why wouldn't you figure it out for sure. The test is very common. Also, it does make sense to check out your vitamin D levels, your symptoms fit into this category as well. Read more about it:

In fact, there are many causes for fatigue and some of them can be treated with carbohydrate limitation, supplementation with pyruvate, or increasing intake of essential fats including but not limited to: Omega-3, MCT (it's a supplement), oils of tree nuts, avocados, coconut and olive oils.
