Question
I am a 37 y/o who is a hard weight gainer. I can eat a horse and loose a pound instead.  Is there a vitamin or supplement I can take to lower my rabbit matabolism, so I can gain weight?  All sites talk about loosing, some of us want to gain.  Only want to gain 10-15 pounds to reach 170.

Answer
Hi Jamie, well, you must certainly be frustrated with your efforts, since the great majority of literature does concentrate on losing weight!    There really is no supplement or vitamin to lower your metabolism.   Actually, you don't want to mess with your metabolism!   This is actually a good sign.   First of all, you never indicated if u are male or female.   I am assuming you are male, but you never know, some females might want to weigh 170 lbs!  LOL
The fact that your metabolism is so high that you burn everything off tells me that your thyroid is working, and that you probably have a good percentage of lean mass on your body.   High metabolism is good because you will burn fat.   You want to gain weight, but not the wrong kind of weight.   You don't want to lower your metabolism, because then you will accumulate fat much more easily.   I'm sure that you don't want to gain fat, right?    If you want to gain lean body weight, then you need to increase your total calories, supplement your diet with some protein shakes, and add resistance exercise (weights).    You should start increasing your daily calories by adding an extra meal.  This would not be McDonalds, but a healthy balanced dinner of lean protein, complex carbohydrate and fibrous vegetable.   Also, you may want to add a protein shake as well, or maybe replace one of your meals with it, since eating all day long can be expensive and time consuming.   I like Lean Body by Labrada, but you can pick one that you like that is low in sugar and fat, but protein at 30g or higher per serving.   The rest of your meals should consist of the same thing....each meal would be about 30 to 40 g of protein, 30-40 g of carbohydrates and a good helping of colorful vegetables that are steamed or microwaved, not dripping in butter.   You want to aim for 5-7 meals daily, but using a protein shake in place of one or two meals will cut down on all that time eating, but still give you the lean calories you need.
You should do weights a minimum of 3 times per week, but 4 to 5 for best results and maximum gain.   Don't worry, if you eat clean like I recommended above, and exercise, you will only gain 10-15 lb anyway---your body will regulate itself.   You can't gain 50 lb of muscle suddenly, unless you were using enhancements, ie. steroids.
This should help you in your quest to gain  LEAN weight, naturally.
