Is Ghee the New Lemon Water?

Lately, we can’t scroll through our Insta feeds without finding some crazy, new weight-loss trend to investigate (we're looking at you, teatoxes).

The latest comes from, perhaps unsurprisingly, the eldest Kardashian sister. Kourtney, the smokin' hot mom of three, recently posted that she drinks a cup of ghee every morning.

Ghee is essentially a form of clarified butter and supposedly nudges your bod into fat-burning mode (which is maybe the only thing that would make a cup of butter sound appetizing).

Unfortunately there’s no scientific evidence to back up that claim. And Keri Gans, R.D., author of The Small Diet Change, says that this Kardashian wellness tip is probably not going to do your waistline any favors.

"Since lemon juice has zero calories compared to a ghee's 100 to 140 calories per cup, you would be better off drinking water with lemon if you're trying to lose weight," she says. That being said, even lemon water is mostly beneficial for hydration, not burning fat. A girl can dream.
