Craving, diet, and exercise

Question
hi! I've just begun dieting and exercising but recently I've been craving a lot of
sweets.  I heard that it's ok to indulge in sweet and salty foods just as long as
you wash it down with a lot of water.  Does this mean I can have my Junior Mints
and eat them too? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Dear Phyllis,

Your craving for sweets can mean several things.

1. Your diet is not right for you, for example, too much carbohydrates, too little good fats. Diets with correct ratios of fats to carbs to proteins stop craving in a week eor so.

2. Your exercise is not right for you, e.g., not enough intensity, not enough strength training, or just too little exercise. Research showed that at high exercise intensities people prefer fatty, not sweet foods.

3. Carbs in your diet are wrong: too high carbohydrate density (calorie for calorie) or too high glycemic index. Carb-dense or calorie-dense foods usually are not enough filling (see about satiety index below)

4. You are metabolic resistant or/and insulin resistant;

5. You are underweight - check it here:
