raw eggs

Question
hi. thank you for reading this. i am a 16 year old trying to get in shape. i was wondering if eating raw eggs is really risky. my mom said i could get salmonella and i was wondering if thats really likeley. i really hope it isnt because i was happy that i can easily eat them and i know that they are high in protein. i would only eat them 3-4 times a week probably anyways. what do you think i should do? thank you

Answer
Hello Alec!

You will not get sick from the eggs, but there is a slight chance you could catch a bacterial infection such as salmonella, but very unlikely. Eggs are probably the best source of protein because of the unique combination of Amino Acids which make up a protein molecule. However, a human being cannot digest raw Biotin, one of the essential Amino Acids. Therefore, you are depriving yourself of getting the full branch chain of amino acids and not getting the full protein molecule digested.
If you still want to drink them, they most likely won't hurt you at all.
