Proteins in meat can damage the kidney

Question
I have a friend who gets ill when ever she eats meat of any kind. She says that at first she feels high, for about half an hour, then gets ill and vomits.

the only abnormal part of her is her kidneys, one is smaller than the other. but in my research, I haven't found that kidneys do anything for protein.

I am big into nutrition and have never heard of anything like this, can you help out?

Answer
Matteus,

High protein diet put kidney function under considerable stress. Researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston found that those with mild kidney problems -- but not those without the problem -- who ate lot of protein from meat might have a loss in kidney function.
