QuestionHi
I have a young daughter, she's 3 years old, who loves eating raw pasta. By raw, I mean commercially bought, dried wholewheat pasta. Very crunchy. The ingredients on the packet say "Wholewheat Semolina 75% Durum Wheat Semolina 25%.
She doesn't eat a lot of it but she does ask for it nearly every day.
Can this lead to any problems?
Thanks
Rob
AnswerI used to eat small amounts of raw spaghetti as a child. It didn't do any real harm at the time, as I kept it to rather small amounts, and didn't continue with the practice for that long. Pasta is made from wheat which contains gluten to which a number of people are sensitive, and it's generally considered better to cook or ferment any grain-derived foods, given the antinutrients in grains. However, this minor habit shouldn't be a problem, for now.
