Habit: Stay faithful

One of the biggest reasons many dieters fail to lose weight is that they are constantly looking for the next 'big thing' in the diet world. They read voraciously to see if they can find a reason to change their diet strategy and lose weight faster.

They talk to every second person who claims to know something about nutrition to get the 'insider secrets' and 'magic bullets' they are looking for. This week carbs are good for you, next week they are straight from the pit of hell. This week fats are an 'all-you-can-eat', the next they are making you FATTER ...

STOP IT

Changing your diet all the time usually makes for very little or no overall progress in your weight loss. What you really NEED to do - and what successful dieters DO do is to work at a diet for eight to 12 weeks.

If it works and they feel good doing it THEY PUT THEIR HEAD DOWN AND KEEP GOING for as long as it takes to lose the weight. Then they re-adapt this strategy into a lifestyle and stick with it to keep the weight off. There's no reason to change, and probably no diet that will work better than a diet that's already working, so why mess with it?

Find a diet that works for you and then switch off your desire to find something better. You can use your progress and feeling of wellbeing as justification for not needing to change things.
